The Compact popup menu sets the threshold (from 0% to 50%) of how much free space can accumulate before it is automatically compacted when you quit HTML.edit.
Show and Use Full PathName
When checked, displays the pathname of the last exported copy of the document in the lower left of the document window. HTML.edit uses the stored pathname to update the file when this checkbox is hilited.
Confirm Automated HyperText Links
When checked, displays a dialog box confirming the choice made for HREF document on Link to Previous Document and Link to Next Document.
Use Export Conversion Table
When checked, uses the Export Conversion Table to convert instances of special characters upon exporting, allowing the source text to contain diacriticals or special characters (such as ©, ®, umlaut, grave, acute, etc.).
Remember Window Location
When checked, remembers the location and size of the application window between sessions.
File Creator
A popUp menu that selects the application used as the creator for documents created by HTML.edit.
Size Window
Use the Size Window popUp menu to resize the document and editor window.
Derive Path from <BASE> Element
When checked, restores the document path (ie., location) from the BASE element's path relative to the server root (when possible).
When unchecked, imported documents will display the path of the imported file.
Convert Tab on Import
When checked, translates tab characters (ASCII 9) to a selected character or string (eg.,ΓÇÿ\tΓÇÖ) on imported files, which may be used to delimit tables. When unchecked, tabs are left in the imported document.
Maintain Selection after Edit
When checked, maintains the selection (highlight) of text after performing an editing change.
When unchecked, editing commands deselect the text.
Always Parse HTML on Import
If the imported text contains structural codes (such as <HTML>,<HEAD>,<BODY>, etc.) moves the HEAD section to the Header field and checks the structural code syntax.
Convert LF to CR on Import
When checked, translates lineFeed characters (ASCII 10) to return characters on imported files. When unchecked, lineFeeds are left in the imported document.
New Document on Form Feed
When checked, each instance of a formFeed character (ASCII 12) within the imported file will create a new document. When unchecked, formFeeds are left in the imported document and ignored.
Translate Date/Time Entities on Export
When checked, translates embedded date and time entity codes into the current date or time as indicated by the code on exported documents.
When unchecked, leaves the untranslated entities in the exported document.
Translate Custom Entities on Export
When checked, substitutes the contents of the associated Master Header, Master Footer, or document for associated custom entities in the exported document.
When unchecked, HTML.edit performs no substitution on export.

Display Tool Palette When in Editor
When checked, automatically displays the HTML Tool Palette upon entering the Editor window.

Set HTTP Server Folder

These are are the paths to each project folder; all documents with that label will be stored there.
The folder appears to the right of its label.
Project Labels
This is the list of labels, which may be used to designate projects or folders in the hierarchy of your server.

Click on this button to restore the current settings from a Preferences file.
Save Settings
Click on this button to save the current settings to a Preferences file.
Port Number
If not using the default number of the specified protocol, enter the decimal number of the alternate port. (This is usually left blank.)

Help Background Color
Displays a color selection dialog that chooses the color used as the background for the Help window. Note that the foreground text remains black.
Report Template
This popUp menu selects the paper size used for printing.
Show Master Headers/Footers in Index
When checked, includes the Master Headers and Footers in the Index list of documents. When not checked, only documents are displayed in the Index.
